VEHICLE OWNERSHIP PROGRAM

WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM?

The Vehicle Ownership Program is designed to help your client secure a vehicle and build a long-term transportation plan. There are two ways, based upon your client’s situation and/or qualifications, that we accomplish this:

(1) The First Wheel route, an entry-level program for those with the greatest needs
(client purchases vehicle for $500)
(2) The Second Wheel route. Clients must have a minimum of $3,000 to
put towards purchase of a vehicle 

The core requirements for VOP are as follows:

1. Must fall within predetermined income levels

2. Must be referred by an approved referring organization

3. Must have been with their referring organization for no less than 90 days

WHO QUALIFIES?

To be approved for the First Wheel program, the client must meet the following requirements:

Be working (SSI income will not be considered)

Be insurable and provide a state driving history record

Agree to attend an orientation class, interview and drug test

Must not have a working vehicle in their household

Be financially able to cover fees for registration, tags, and title

Must have a discretionary income of $400/mo

If under the age of 24, must be a parent with custody of children or working towards reunification

Commit to participate in our RIDE Program

Have a valid Driver’s License
